In The News: Florida Approves Removal of 80,000 Policies

We came across some interesting news today. The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation has approved the removal of more than 80,000 policies from Citizens Property Insurance Corporation. This action is part of the Sunshine State’s effort to move insurance holders from state-created Citizens Property Insurance into the private insurance market.

The policies approved for removal by Heritage Property & Casualty Insurance Co., Southern Oak Insurance Co. and United Property & Casualty Insurance Co are both personal and commercial residential policies. The take-out periods begin in September. If you’re a current policyholder with any of these companies you’ll be able to stick with the policy until the take-out date. But, it would be a good idea to start looking for insurance soon.
