Memorial Day is the busiest travel day of the year for both roads and waterways. Millions of people flock to lakes, rivers and lagoons to make the most of this well deserved three-day weekend. As your trusted insurance agency, we think it would be a good idea to take a second look at your boat insurance.

Making sure your policy is up to date is the smartest way to begin this weekend. That way, if your engine overheats you’ll be able to get it towed back to shore. Or if while navigating an unfamiliar lake you run aground, your policy will pay for the damage. It is also important to evaluate if you carry enough medical insurance and liability coverage.

Before you hit the water this weekend, make sure your boat is ready. Check your pumps, your electrical and make sure you put gas in it, but also double check your coverage. It could make or break your mini vacation.
